NURTURE OTHERS

Today's piece will be straight, punchy, and very blunt; to make our lives count, we need to get a grasp of the reality of nurturing others.

I have always wondered, what makes people think that if they help someone especially those below them it makes them helpless? Or rather, can lightening up someone's candle make yours dim? I strongly believe for me and you to make this our time-bound life count, we must be comfortable with nurturing other people and celebrating their success.

Over the years, in my little sphere and corner of influence, I have seen quite a handful of people looking up to me in so many aspects of life for nurturing. This has set me on my toes to live as I should and ensure that I don't fail them when it's all been said and done.

We all have something in us that is instrumental in the lifting of others; it could be a word of encouragement, a little push, our widow's mite, our time, our wisdom, teachings, our listening ears, or even our way of life.

While on our way to fulfilling destiny, we all need nurturing, and we don't have all it takes in ourselves to do that, we need the help of others - we need to be empowered. Look at who you are and where you are now, you have been partly nurtured by one or two people in the past. It doesn't matter what stage of life you are in now, I strongly believe someone is looking up to you for nurturing as you are also looking up to another for the same.

I know by now you have gotten the juice of the orange I have been trying to squeeze in this piece - nurture others, empower someone, help others become a better version of themselves.

You never lived if you failed to leave a footprint, an imprint, or even a fragment of yourself behind in people's life. Nurturing others requires humility, it needs selflessness and it will take you out of your way to achieve that. But for what's worth, the world would be a better place if we all go about nurturing others and allowing ourselves to be nurtured as well.

Start today, start now, start with just life and you would have made your life count.

Thank you for reading

DO YOUR THING - IN YOUR SKIN

This piece is from my archives but for the sake of this series, I had to dust it up. It is a bit long, but it is for you - yes you. So take a few minutes and go through this with an open mind, who knows, it just might change your life. One year ago I was having a conversation with this lady with whom we have been discussing life, she said to me: “Sir, I have something that is eating me deep inside and I will need help with it; people have been making fun of me because of my body structure, I have been working hard to add some flesh but it is not working, I hate being called a smally”.  I strongly believe that to make life count you honestly have to love yourself, love who you are now and are becoming, and constantly remind yourself that you are a masterpiece, God's work of art, one of a kind, custom-made limited edition person. What I am saying in essence is, to make life count, you have to be comfortable in your skin. In Your Own Skin To be comfortable in your skin is to be you an...

JUST A DAY OFF

Disclaimer The message of this piece may or may not be for everybody, however I pray that somehow you relate with these few words and make sense out of it. O ne of the things I have been consistent with this year is “morning runs”; I exercise three times a week, alternating between the week days. The entire experience became more fun when one of my friends became my neighbour few months ago, and we began running together. Well, what we do every day we go running is adding upon the distance we covered previously and no matter how small the addition is, it gives us a sense of improvement. However, lately, we have been overwhelmed with life and personal struggles that we often skip our morning exercise, and prior to now that I am writing this piece, it has been almost two weeks that we have not gone running. W hat we discovered and even talked about while running this morning (5:27am, Saturday October 24 th , 2020)   was that in as much as our body systems have adopted ...

THE GREATEST DISTRACTOR

I have been struggling to choose the best approach to write this piece; whether to start with statistics of what researchers have done, quotes from great minds or even illustrations. However, I realized that the best way is to hit the nail on the head, straight, simple and blunt. (And I don't claim that this piece capture all there is to this issue).  This piece is a follow-up to the one I wrote last week on distraction. After long deep thought, I felt the message will not be complete without adding this perspective to it. I assure you this simple and blunt piece will stare you in the face and show you one of the ways you have been letting part of your life slip past your fingers. We all are guilty when it comes to this. In the last piece, I established that not all distractions appear harmful as some wear innocent looks but are highly detrimental. I also said that it takes diligence and meticulousness to understand and overcome them.  Hence, to overcome this great dist...
