THE BEAUTY OF LIFE - WE WILL LOVE AND BE LOVED, WE WILL BE UP AGAINST THE WALL

We will Love and be Loved

This is the last piece in “The Beauty of Life Series”

Another beauty and spice of life is the fact that we will love and be loved. The issue of love and being loved is a phenomenon that cut across human beings and even animals alike. It is that feeling that gives us sense of belonging and the feeling of being special. We all have in us this innate and inbuilt desire of strong affection, feelings and longing for somebody. Our heart is wired in such a way that nothing has the power to touch and influence it as love.

In our journey of life, we will be presented with the opportunities, platforms and privileges to love and be loved. Some will love us with strings attached, while some will love us unconditionally. We also in return will love and demonstrate affection toward others, spanning from our families, relatives, neighbours and ultimately to our spouses. This is the beauty of life.

However, though to love and be loved is a great thing, if we must love we must love right; if we must express affection to others it must be true, honest, and sincere with no strings attached. God is love; he is the A to Z of genuine and practical love. What this world needs is not thousand angels but ordinary men and women who will love aright - God’s kind of love, the love that has the power to change the world.

Love is a beautiful thing, some say money make the world go round, others say women make the world go round, but with utmost certitude and responsibility, I dare to say, God’s kind of LOVE make the world go round. Love is the essence of life.

1 Corinthians 13:4-7 captured this beautifully: Love is very patient and kind, never jealous or envious, never boastful or proud, never haughty or selfish or rude. Love does not demand its own way. It is not irritable or touchy. It does not hold grudges and will hardly even notice when others do it wrong. It is never glad about injustice, but rejoices whenever truth wins out. If you love someone, you will be loyal to him no matter what the cost. You will always believe in him, always expect the best of him, and always stand your ground in defending him”.

We will be Up Against the Wall
Emphatically, Life is never a bed of roses, neither has it ever promised us a smooth ride. Sometimes we found ourselves up against the wall and we feel like giving up, sometimes we will find ourselves stranded at the crossroad of life, confuse about what to do, which step to take and which move to make. Honestly, life sometimes becomes a dumfounding puzzle that is hard to figure out, an equation so difficult to solve and question so tasking to answer.

I know this might not go down well with some people, but honestly some of the moments that make life beautiful are those moments that you are up against the wall; those moments that you feel as if the whole world is crashing down on you, and the ground you are standing on is becoming sinking sand. Such moments are distressful; nothing else seems to make sense because deep in the world of your heart, many battles and wars are going on.

We will not appreciate life and acknowledge the giver of life if all we experience on this life journey is a smooth ride, by the way you will never appreciate being up until you hit rock bottom. When we are distressed, caught up in the storm, being overwhelmed by the flood and we are almost sinking, this is the time to be still, to look up and see the salvation of God. Honestly, we must come to the point that we are at the end of ourselves before God will step in to save the day.

Sorrow may last for the night, but with morning comes unspeakable joy. When life pushed you to the point of no return and you are up against the wall, be still, look up, have faith and you will see God at work, all you need to do is get out of the way. When you are up against the world, be reminded that God is also up against the world with you; he has promised to never leave you or forsake you.

FIRST THING FIRST

Our Default Setting  So I have a friend who has this significant order he looks up to a lot. He has made it in life as an international professor based in the United State and has all the right connections (if you get what I mean). My friend had this deeply ingrained mindset back then in school that once he is done with undergraduate studies, getting employed will not be an issue for him. Five years down the line, he is still pulling and pushing through life to make both ends meet. What happened to the hope he had of being helped by his significant order? Quashed. I know you can relate to this story, you might have heard similar experiences with people you look up to fail you, disappoint you, and let you down. Nigerians believe that the easiest way to get disappointed and useless in life is to look up to your uncle. (How true is this? you judge for yourself). Such is life as we see it. At the end of the day, your help and lifting may or may not come through such people that ...

DON'T JUST LOSE IT

So I failed to send out the publicity for what I am to write on and share with you yesterday; partly because I have been dragging with my health lately and the fact that writer's block came visiting. Just like trust, consistency is one thing that once established, you don't just lose it. Building consistency is like earning trust, it takes time but can or may be lost in a blink of an eye. So I thought about this yesterday, knowing that someone out there may be waiting on me to send something out today, and here I am, about to make the waiting go down the drain. Well, I had to write something. In life, we exert our efforts, direct our attention and channel our determination to achieve or get some things through persistence, only to let them slip past our fingers because we lack the keeping power of consistency. What I mean is, persistence gets it, consistency keeps it; so by all means, in your persistence, be consistent.  In describing what consistency is not, Hundred Life Desig...

The 4 Heartbeats of COMMITMENT

In my last piece, I established that commitment is the spine upon which every worthy achievement in life stems. It counts the cost and pays the proportionate price. Commitment singles you out of the crowd. Don't travel this life without adding tones of commitment to your backpack. I also added that where you are and who you are right now is not in any way unrelated to the number of commitments you have made in the past. To drive the nail further down into the coffin, I will share four major variables that serve as the heartbeats of commitment. Through them, commitment comes alive, and with them, we see, touch, and feel the reality of commitment. Commitment is Sacrificial  If you are committed to someone or something, the first proof is that you sacrifice or give your all for it. Here, you bet your life, stake it out and lay it down on the line. The pages of history are scattered with men and women who were committed to worthy causes and people they loved and valued; the proo...
