DIDACTIC FROM THE PRINTING WORLD – WHAT IT WILL COST YOU

In this last piece of the didactic from the printing world series, I will share with you the last life lesson and principle I have observed and still observing as the ultimate in achieving great feat in the printing world. Systematically, after respecting the processes involved in producing a printed work, cultivating and developing the virtues needed, the last thing you need is counting the cost as well as paying the price. You see we are caught up in a generation where people want to associate with words such as: greatness, success, exploits, achievements etcetera, but only few give due consideration to what it takes to achieve those – the price or the cost. Hence, cutting corners become the order of the day, most people want the easiest, cheapest way to achieving greatness; unfortunately, cutting corners short circuit the natural flow of success and greatness. The last but not the least of the issues I saw in the printing world is the fact that one must count the cost, carr

DIDACTIC FROM THE PRINTING WORLD – THE VIRTUES NEEDED

Before coming into the printing world, I thought I was a man of patience; or at least I thought I had little bit of patience that can see me through the daily experiences of life. However, as I was introduced properly into the world of printing, little did I know that my patience was out for a real litmus test; it wasn’t long before I realized that the patience I thought I had, needed great polishing and development. Growing up as a young lad, I used to hear my father talking about what it takes to be a great man, and all it takes to make a man leave a mark on the sand of time, I am sure you can relate with this father – child(dren) upbringing moments. As time goes by, I soon came to understand with age, knowledge and experience that what my Dad was trying to say was, to be great, you must be a man of virtues. True, a man is not more that his or her virtues.   It’s almost a year now that I have been into the printing world, and I can say with all surety that there is some virt

DIDACTIC FROM THE PRINTING WORLD – THE PROCESS

I am a very curious and inquisitive person, I love asking questions, sometimes even series of questions at the same time. Hence, the first time I was introduced into the printing world, I had so many questions as to how the finished works of printing came to be. Well! It wasn’t long ago before I was completely into the different processes every printing work has to pass through to become a finished product.                                                                                                           Process is simply a series of actions directed towards a specific aim. By implication, every process is aimed at arriving at a specific destination. Before we go further, it’s worth noting here that for every worthwhile venture and achievement, there is a process that led to its existence. Once the process is ignored, downplayed or handled carelessly, the resulting outcome will be catastrophe. For every printed work you see – banner, flyer, poster, book, billboard, memo

DIDACTIC FROM THE PRINTING WORLD

After my service year, I came with a high expectation of getting a meaningful job at least in my first seven months at home (December 2017 to June 2018); but as I write this piece,  life is still teaching me practically that it is full of what I planned for and what I haven’t planned for. What I mean here is that hitherto, I am still trusting God and waiting on Him for a job – I know some can relate with this experience. Well, the fact that I haven’t secured a job yet doesn’t give me the license to fold my hands and lazy around, neither has it qualify me to withdraw into the shell of idleness. Judging from the way things are going on in our country, one can’t but reach out in faith and delve into something, anything legit less he or she becomes a liability in the society, and my own case is not an exception. Sometimes around May 2018, I got working with one of the best printers in Jos, there weren’t any clear terms of employer – employee agreement as to whether I will be worki

SEEING THE BEST IN OTHERS

I begin this piece with “perspectives”, which is the evaluation and assessment of a situation or a person from one's point of view. It is actually no news that we all have our perspectives as uniquely designed individuals, with which we view, assess and categorize the unfolding of events in day-to-day life. Hence your perspective can either open you up to an entirely new discovery about life in others and events or cage and limits you within the walls of yourself. Have you ever imagined if the world only revolves around your perspective? Or better still, what would have happened if everything is all about what and how you see things? Come to think of this, where will the world be if it is to see things through your own lenses? You see, there is more to life than what meets the eye. We are meant to be each other’s stepping stone to greatness. Having talked a bit about perspectives, I would want to keep the ball rolling with the fact that there is this divine perspective in

THE ORDER OF LIFE

I attended my cousin’s sendoff prayer/party few years back, and just like other occasions, I observed something that captivated my curiosity. Beyond the euphoria of the atmosphere, the glamour of what women wore in their various cliques and the ecstasy of the day; in the fecundity of my mind, I was caught up into deep thinking about the sitting arrangement and the order of the whole arena. It is normal in every occasion for order and decorum to be maintained, and the sitting arrangement of different set of people be given due consideration.  Hence you could imagine the invited guests seated up on the high table, exchanging pleasantries fitting their given position in the occasion. Again you could imagine the unit and set of men/women who often are siblings/relatives, friends and well-wishers. I am sure you can relate with the picture I am trying to paint here. This scenario is no different from the order and arrangement of life. It is obvious that we have this set of people wh

YOUR IDENTITY AND THE CROWD

Midway into this week I was conversing with one of my friends who has a photo studio around my locale. Our friendly discourse hinged around how the abnormally harmful wrong has now become the normal right in our generation; how that if you try to stand out you automatically become an object of ridicule. This is however our sad reality that if not handled headlong will leave little or no sanity for the next generation. Like I stressed out in my last piece that we are all uniquely designed to live one effective and fruitful life, not to be torn in-between divisible, unfruitful, and ineffective lives; that from the beginning of time, God knows you by name; He has singled you to stand out, to live as one individual that ever lived.   You are a masterpiece, a rare work of art, God’s magnum opus. This simply implies that you have a customized identity worth protecting regardless of whom or what comes your way. Let’s start from the family; you might be many in your family, but God sees
