RANDOM THOUGHTS FOR THE NEW YEAR

I want to congratulate you for making it this new year, God has been faithful. Last year was tough, but we survived it, God kept us and we are here. We now have a clean slate of sheets, what we write on it determines how our lives will pan out at the end of the day/year. I want to share some random thoughts with you that I sense will help on your journey through this year and life entirely. I pray they mean something to you.

Note: After today, the breakforth series will go on a break and will resume the first week of April. Thank you for following what we have done here hitherto.

So here we go...

  1. Make each day count - Who and what you are today is a cumulation of the decisions you have made every day of the past. Every new day, do your best to make meaningful decisions and be disciplined enough to follow through with them and you would have made the day count.

  2. Be thankful - Gratitude has a rippling effect; instead of complaining, be thankful, count your blessings, relish in the ordinary things you have. If you have nothing to give at all, give gratitude.

  3. Invest time - This is the hottest currency common to all men, invest it. Be wise, time is the unit of your destiny, when you utilize it, you add to your destiny and when you waste it, you take away from your destiny.

  4. Build relationships - Swallow your pride and ego if need be and build strategic and fruitful relationships, you will need it in life

  5. Grow and be valuable - Your value is what makes you relevant and useful in life and you only become valuable when you grow. Hone your skills, polish your gifts, refine your talents and they will bring you before kings.

  6. Have the right attitude towards failure - In life, we will surely fall and fail, what we do afterward is all that matters. Know that there is a huge difference between failure as an event and failure as a person. Be triumphant in failure and be humble in making corrections. If you fall, never rise without studying every step that led you down, the knowledge and experience garnered will be your souvenir as you carry on with life.

  7. Leave the past in the past - The first step into making the best of your present is forgetting the past. Don't dwell on the mistakes, pain, failures, scars, and shame of the past. Find forgiveness from God, forgive yourself, and forgive those who wrong you as well.

  8. Cultivate character - A man is not stronger or better than his character.  A good character gives you goodwill and a man who has and lives on goodwill will never run dry.

  9. Stretch - This is my theme for this year. I want to stretch myself in many ways, I want to outperform all I have done in the past, learn new skills, grow out of my comfort zone, take meaningful risks, go places, do things and become a better person. Do well and stretch this year.

  10. Love God and serve humanity - Sometimes in 2019, I wrote a song, and the lyrics captured this for me:

"All I am will glorify God, all I have will edify people. I want to live my life and die my dead to honor God and serve humanity".

When you do this, your life will outlive you.

To wrap this up, I would say be intentional with your life this year, live life to the fullest, build capacity, relish every moment, be happy, have regret-free fun, take nothing to heart and live in peace with all men.  Simply make this year count.

Do well to give thoughts to these issues this year.

Thank you for reading

DO YOUR THING - IN YOUR SKIN

This piece is from my archives but for the sake of this series, I had to dust it up. It is a bit long, but it is for you - yes you. So take a few minutes and go through this with an open mind, who knows, it just might change your life. One year ago I was having a conversation with this lady with whom we have been discussing life, she said to me: “Sir, I have something that is eating me deep inside and I will need help with it; people have been making fun of me because of my body structure, I have been working hard to add some flesh but it is not working, I hate being called a smally”.  I strongly believe that to make life count you honestly have to love yourself, love who you are now and are becoming, and constantly remind yourself that you are a masterpiece, God's work of art, one of a kind, custom-made limited edition person. What I am saying in essence is, to make life count, you have to be comfortable in your skin. In Your Own Skin To be comfortable in your skin is to be you an...

JUST A DAY OFF

Disclaimer The message of this piece may or may not be for everybody, however I pray that somehow you relate with these few words and make sense out of it. O ne of the things I have been consistent with this year is “morning runs”; I exercise three times a week, alternating between the week days. The entire experience became more fun when one of my friends became my neighbour few months ago, and we began running together. Well, what we do every day we go running is adding upon the distance we covered previously and no matter how small the addition is, it gives us a sense of improvement. However, lately, we have been overwhelmed with life and personal struggles that we often skip our morning exercise, and prior to now that I am writing this piece, it has been almost two weeks that we have not gone running. W hat we discovered and even talked about while running this morning (5:27am, Saturday October 24 th , 2020)   was that in as much as our body systems have adopted ...

SPRINKLE IT AROUND

So a friend who is doing very well in her catering business shared a screenshot of her conversation with a client yesterday on Facebook, and I was honestly amazed because what I saw was a confirmation of the burden I have been brooding over lately.  Let me share this with you in the screenshot image below. What comes to mind when you see things like this? After seeing this, I asked myself a series of questions. Do good people still exist? If they do, what is the substance they are made up of? What are their works? Do they need to make some loud noise about what they do?  If I may ask, what is your definition of kindness?  I know you have heard this word like a million times but what does it mean to you? I feel like expressing this in my mother tongue due to how intense this is in my mind but let me try with this borrowed official language so we all may understand.  Kindness is Everything (kindnessiseverything.com) defines kindness as " the sincere and voluntar...
