IT IS FOR YOUR GOOD

After my NYSC, I honestly wanted to venture into academia. In 2018, I dropped an application for a graduate assistant in my alma mater, hoping to get in and further my studies at the same time. Well, I didn't get in. Afterwards, I worked with a printing press where I was exposed to the printing rudiments, street life and a lot of operational errands for two years. Again, from there I also worked with an agro startup that works with smallholder farmers that grow climate-smart crops for almost two years. Nothing was making sense to me, it was about the little cash coming in that enables me to pay bills and keep life going. (Even though it was not adequate; I can remember days I had absolutely nothing and had to sleep on an empty stomach). I honestly didn't know I was being prepared for what I have today.  So for the past few weeks, we have been talking about the process of BECOMING, what the process entails and some things that are involved. By now it might have been a cliché, bu

Two Things are Involved

So I boarded a bike last Sunday to the gas plant to refill, and after negotiations, we agreed on a transportation fee. While going I engaged the bike guy in a conversation and we talked about how young people value money more than strategic relationships these days. (now don't get me wrong, money is important).  He shared with me how he once picked a passenger/stranger who pleaded that he only had #200 for the fee of service worth #400. On their way, the man asked him about whose bike he is using, and he said he hires the bike and remits a certain amount daily. The man now asked him if he is willing to take a bike and be responsible for it till the weekend before he remits an agreed amount. The bike man thought it was a dream or a big joke, if not how can a stranger he just picked a few minutes ago be willing to trust him with a bike? To cut the long story short, the young

What BECOMING Entails

I would like to start this piece with an emphasis that there is no other way to become or arrive without staying through and remaining true in the process of your life's making. The few points I will share with you today are not new, but they are new. They are not new because you know them by name, but new because every time they demand obedience from us, giving in becomes hard and strange. I desire that after reading this piece, you will count the cost and pay the proportional price of letting them finish their work in your life. The process of your making will require: Patience: Patience is not only waiting but waiting with the right kind of attitude. It entails not losing it even when all the odds of keeping your cool are against you. Truth is, you cannot amount to anything in life without patience. History is scattered with the story of so many young people who through impatience shipwrecked their lives. Dear you, you need patience.  Persistence: Patience gives birth to pe
